Listed below are some reasons why having reliable light sources is a good idea for survival preparedness-

1. Morale-Being able to light up an emergency situation can help you overcome feelings of depression and hopelessness, increasing morale and will to survive.

2. Avoid injuries-Not having good visibility can cause injuries if you need to move around. Light up your surroundings and avoid injuries with a dependable light source.

3. Treat injuries-Low visibility makes administering first aid and medical attention properly difficult. Ensure you are able to treat your injuries and those of others by having light on-hand to able to see the problem to treat it properly.

4. Communication/get help-Light is an excellent way to communicate for help. Light alerts others and shows them your location.

5. Look for food/shelter-Food and shelter can be impossible to find when visibility is low, even though they may be just a few yards away. Light will help you find them quickly and safely.

6. Tools-Survival tools are difficult to use efficiently and properly with enough light. Be prepared with reliable light sources to get the job done. Good visibility while using tools will reduce injuries and damage tools as well.

7. Cooking-Light can help you cook your food thoroughly and properly. Also light helps you cook and eat fast, which can be helpful if you are in a hurry.

When making lights a part of your survival preparedness, be sure to include more than one source of light in case one light isn’t working or you need light for an extended period of time.

Also, when choosing light sources for survival preparedness, keep in mind that electricity may not be available in survival situations. Various commercial lights are available today that are powered by batteries, shaking and solar energy. Lights with renewable energy sources are the best option. All light sources should be waterproof as well.
